TANY Meets With Transportation Alternatives
On Thursday, March 23, Trucking Association of New York President, Kendra Hems, and Zach Miller, of NewYorkTruckStop.com, and chairman of TANY’s Metro Region Government Affairs Sub-Committee, met with representatives of Transportation Alternatives (TA) – a group representing the interests of pedestrians and bicyclists in New York City.
While the two groups have not always agreed on policy issues in the past, we share the same goal of improving safety for all users of New York City’s congested city streets. The discussion centered around a possible collaboration to work together on promoting the Trucks-Eye-View program, which aims to educate pedestrians and bicyclists on the operating characteristics of large trucks, as well as create other safety programs to implement within the five boroughs of New York City.
The meeting also offered TANY an opportunity to discuss our position on policy issues that have been somewhat contentious, and provide TA with an alternative perspective.
The meeting was both positive and productive and TANY looks forward to working with TA more in the future to promote safety in the New York City region.
