On May 14th, 2019 the Trucking Association of New York (TANY) will host the Metro New York Business Management Conference at the LaGuardia Plaza Hotel. Companies who operate trucks in New York City should really attend. Keynote speakers include Charles Ukegbu, NYC DOT Assistant Commissioner for Regional & Strategic Planning and NYC Council Member and Chairman of the Transportation Committee, Ydanis Rodriguez.
At the conference, City DOT will unveil their Smart Truck Management Plan. DOT has been working on this plan for almost two years. The plan is intended to improve the efficiency of freight movement in NYC while mitigating its impact on communities. The Smart Truck Management plan will set the template for how freight moves through NYC for the next thirty years. TANY and other stakeholders have been working with the Office of Freight Mobility on this plan and they will spend two hours at the conference going over the finalized version.
TANY President Kendra Hems will give an update on legislative and regulatory issues facing the trucking industry at both the City and State level.
Joseph Peplinski, Vice President TRS, Haylor Freyer & Coon will discuss how the trucking industry is being attacked by the most aggressive and litigious environments we’ve ever seen. Learn how to prepare your drivers and fleet to defend against it.
Brian Berger, Attorney, Carman Callahan & Ingham, LLP will discuss the types of evidence which frequently appear throughout the course of trucking litigation and discuss their impact on the outcome of trial. Often times, a jury’s decision, even in cases where millions of dollars hang in the balance, can come down to just one or two pieces of evidence.
The conference will conclude with an enforcement round table, where enforcement representatives will participate in a discussion on enforcement issues in the New York metropolitan region. Attendee participation in this discussion is encouraged.
