The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) has advised that northbound Edgewater Road between Halleck Street and eastbound Bruckner Boulevard will be inaccessible to large trucks. As a result, trucks must use the official designated truck route to access eastbound Bruckner Boulevard.
Due to ongoing construction over the next six months, large trucks will be unable to make a right turn onto eastbound Bruckner Boulevard from northbound Edgewater Road. Edgewater Road will only be open to cars and small box trucks. All large trucks proceeding northbound on Halleck Street must use the Randall Avenue route.
This truck detour route is necessary to facilitate construction of a ramp that will connect Edgewater Road to Sheridan Boulevard. Additionally, to assist with overall traffic management, five additional Traffic Enforcement Agents (TEA) will be posted at additional intersections to complement the agents currently posted at intersections along Bruckner Boulevard.
Trucks wanting to access eastbound Bruckner Boulevard from northbound Halleck Street and Edgewater Road should use the following signed detour:
- From northbound Halleck Street, turn left onto Randall Avenue. Proceed to Tiffany Street and turn right. Continue on Tiffany Street to eastbound Bruckner Boulevard. Turn right onto eastbound Bruckner Boulevard.
This work is part of the NYSDOT project to improve access to and from the Hunts Point Peninsula.
