Going on a road trip can be a fun way to spend your weekend. Different from a weekend away in a hotel, a road trip gives you the freedom to travel as little or as much as you want and find some amazing hidden gems close to where you live.

Are you heading out for a road trip this fall? Before you go, make sure you take some of these simple tips on board. Whether it be getting details for fuel delivery, checking your car, or packing the right stuff – here are some helpful tips for your next road trip this year.

Get plenty of sleep

The first thing you must do before you go for a long road trip is get a restful night’s sleep. It is super important to be alert and awake when driving, so make sure you get at least 8 hours of sleep the night before your trip. You can use lavender oil to help you fall asleep the night before and wake up with a zesty ginger tea in the morning to prepare for the trip ahead.

Bring healthy snacks

It is important when you go for a road trip to make sure you pack healthy foods on the go. From veggie sticks and Houmous to fruit, snacking is important to keep your energy up and ensure you don’t visit every drive thru along the way. This chicken wrap recipe is one that is easy to make the day before and bring along with you.

Mini chicken wraps

Ingredients:

  • Rotisserie chicken
  • Spinach
  • Grated carrot
  • Houmous
  • Beef tomato slices
  • Roasted red pepper
  • Tortilla wraps
  1. Chop up your roasted red pepper into thin slices.
  2. In a wrap, spread a good amount of Houmous to add nuttiness to the wrap.
  3. Layer on your spinach, red pepper, chicken, grated carrot, and tomato.
  4. Add some more Houmous and wrap up.
  5. Slice into small rounds and store in a Tupperware for on the go.

Stay hydrated

One very important thing to do when you are on the road for a long stretch of time is stay hydrated. Water is so important for the body and you must take the time to pack a water bottle with you for the road. Consider having a few water bottles in a cooler in the trunk and you can keep these with you at all times whenever you need them.

Plan your stops

You need to have some sort of plan when you go for a road trip. You don’t have to plan everything down to the letter, however you should have an idea of what you want to do on the trip and where you will stop off for the night. Once you have a general plan of stops, you can look for places between each stop to visit and enjoy your trip.

Use some of these simple tips to prepare yourself and your family for a long trip on the road. Whether you are going for work or pleasure – planning out your journey and being prepared is super important.
